Three VPNs, from their own pages

Links to NordVPN, Proton VPN, and Surfshark are affiliate links. ipinfo.fyi may earn a commission if you sign up. The order is based on the published policies below and the needs you set, not on commission. We have not independently tested speeds, logging, or streaming.

Figures checked 13 Oct 2026. Introductory prices renew higher and move with promotions.

Proton VPN Proton AG, Geneva, Switzerland. The company says Swiss law does not require it to keep VPN logs. Proton says it does not record browsing history, session lengths, IP address, or other identifying connection data. Securitum has audited the no-logs setup annually. Proton's blog says the 2026 report is the fifth consecutive pass. Apps are published as open source. On 13 Oct 2026 the pricing page showed Proton Free at $0, and VPN Plus at $3.49/month on a 24-month term ($83.76 for the first 24 months, then $83.88 every 12 months). A $9.99 figure was shown as the undiscounted comparison. Paid plans advertised a 30-day money-back guarantee. Prices vary by currency. Proton's India page says the India location uses Smart Routing servers physically located in Singapore, after it stopped running servers inside India. The free plan's country list on that page does not include India. The pricing page marks Streaming as included on VPN Plus and Proton Unlimited, not on the free plan. The India page also markets streaming.
NordVPN NordVPN's no-logs page says the service is based in Panama, which it describes as having no data-retention law aimed at VPN providers. NordVPN says it does not keep logs of browsing or VPN activity. This summary is from the public no-logs page; a bot check stopped this project from re-downloading the HTML on the check date. The same page says PricewaterhouseCoopers reviewed the no-logs claim in 2018 and 2020, and that later reviews, including 2023, 2024, and 2025, were done by Deloitte. Not quoted. NordVPN's pricing page returned a bot check on 13 Oct 2026, so this site does not invent a dollar figure. Read https://nordvpn.com/pricing/ yourself. Intro rates there usually renew higher. Not confirmed here. On 13 Oct 2026 this project could not fetch an official NordVPN India-server page, so it does not state whether any India location is physical or virtual. Not verified from the pages we archived.
Surfshark Surfshark B.V., Kabelweg 57, 1014BA Amsterdam, the Netherlands (KvK 81967985). Surfshark says Dutch law does not require it to store VPN user data. The privacy policy says Surfshark does not store browsing history, destination addresses, DNS queries, or traffic. It also says servers temporarily keep a user ID and/or IP address and connection timestamps, deleted within 15 minutes after the session ends. That is not the same as keeping no connection data at all. Surfshark's India page says Deloitte issued no-logs assurance reports in 2023 and 2025, and that Cure53 reviewed server infrastructure. The trust center describes a 2026 Cure53 review of infrastructure and the Dausos protocol. On 13 Oct 2026 the pricing page showed Starter at $2.49/month introductory, $67.23 for the first 27 months, VAT may apply, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. A promotional banner was on the page. Renewal is at the then-current price, which was not a stable figure in the text we saved. Surfshark's India page calls the locations “virtual Indian VPN servers” and says “2 virtual Indian server locations”. It also says “50 Indian VPN servers”. We report both phrases and do not try to reconcile them. Not verified from the pages we archived.

Score starts from a privacy rank (Proton 3, NordVPN 2, Surfshark 1) because of jurisdiction, open-source apps, and whether the privacy policy describes even short-lived connection metadata. High privacy doubles that rank. Streaming adds points only when the provider's own page says the plan includes it. A low budget adds points for the lowest verified price, and Proton's free plan counts only when it actually covers the other needs. India adds a point when the provider's own page documents an India location. Ties break toward the better price fit when budget is low, otherwise toward the higher privacy rank. Commission is not an input.

Is this VPN comparison paid?

The outbound links are affiliate links. ipinfo.fyi may earn a commission if you sign up. The ranking does not use commission. Every machine-readable copy says affiliate: true.
