# Common port check
> A short TCP connect test of a fixed port list. Not a scan of every port.
"No connection" means the handshake did not finish before the timeout. A firewall that drops packets looks the same as a closed port.
## Questions

### Can I choose the ports?

No. The list is fixed. Private and reserved addresses are refused, and the check is rate-limited.
