# Publish a geofeed for your prefixes
> A short RFC 8805 geofeed, and where to put it so geolocation vendors pick it up.
A geofeed is a text file you host that says where your IP prefixes are. The format is [RFC 8805](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8805). Vendors, including MaxMind, IPinfo, ipapi.is, and DB-IP, know how to read it. One file corrects many databases. A one-off form corrects one database, once.

## The file

Each line is `prefix, country, region, city, postal`. Country is ISO 3166-1, region is ISO 3166-2. Leave a field empty by keeping the comma. Use the [generator](https://ipinfo.fyi/tools/geofeed) so the commas stay in the right places.

## Publishing it

Put the file at a public HTTPS URL. Then point the registry at it. In a RIPE inetnum or inet6num, a `geofeed:` remark is the usual hook. ARIN and others have their own fields; follow that registry’s current instructions rather than a blog from 2019. After it is public, submit the same URL to the correction forms on the [location checker](https://ipinfo.fyi/tools/location) so vendors that do not poll the registry still see it.

Only publish locations you are willing to state in public. Do not list a customer’s home as the location of a shared mobile block.
