# IP addresses in United States
> Country code US.
The United States is an ARIN region, and a US country code is one of the least specific facts in IP geolocation. It covers a household on Comcast and a VM in Virginia equally well. Consumer networks people meet in practice include Comcast [AS7922](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/7922), Charter [AS20115](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/20115), AT&T [AS7018](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/7018), and T-Mobile [AS21928](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/21928). Verizon is more than one registration: [AS701](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/701) is UUNET / Verizon Business, and [AS6167](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/6167) is Cellco, the wireless company. The ASN on the lookup is the one that applies to that connection, not the brand on the bill by itself. Cloud and edge networks that also geolocate to the US, and that are not home ISPs, include Google [AS15169](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/15169) and Cloudflare [AS13335](https://ipinfo.fyi/asn/13335).

Many cable plans still put a public dynamic IPv4 on the modem. Mobile, T-Mobile in particular, more often combines IPv6 with a shared IPv4. A city pin on a home cable address is often in the right metropolitan area and still not a street. A city pin on 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 is a property of anycast, not of the person who queried the resolver. If the address is yours and the city is wrong, use the [location checker](https://ipinfo.fyi/tools/location) rather than this country page.

## Questions

### What does an IP country of the United States mean?

A database placed the address in the US. Cable and fiber customers are often in the right metro. Anycast resolvers, cloud regions, and VPN exits are in the US on paper and used from everywhere.

### Which registry covers the United States?

ARIN. Consumer ISPs such as Comcast, Charter, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile operate their own ASNs from ARIN space.
